Applications can be obtained and returned to the Gun Barrel City Hall located at 1716 West Main Street.
Applications should be return no later than September 30,2014.
Accepted applicants will be notified of test and oral interview dates.
The City of Gun Barrel City is currently accepting applications for the position of Police Officer.
Gun Barrel City is located in the western portion of Henderson County on Cedar Creek Reservoir with an approximate population of 8,000 permanent residents.
The Police Department is comprised of the Chief of Police and Assistant, two investigators, two patrol sergeants and eight patrol officers. The patrol division work a 12 hour schedule with every other Friday, Saturday and Sunday off.
Officers are responsible for answering radio dispatched calls for service, investigate crimes and motor vehicle crashes. Apprehend fugitives and serve warrants. Take offense and information reports. Perform the duties of a Peace Officer.

Job Requirements

Education, training, experience:
TCLEOSE Peace Officer License Required
Experience is a plus but is not required.
Ability to pass stringent background investigation
Ability to pass drug screen, physical, and psychological evaluation if not employed more 180 days
High School graduate or GED equivalent
Willing and able to work any shift
Good moral character
Good interpersonal and public relations with co-workers, supervisors and public
Ability to pass a written exam and oral interview board
Ability to complete an FTO program
