The City of Gun Barrel City is currently accepting applications for the position of Police Officer.
Gun Barrel City is located in the western portion of Henderson County on Cedar Creek Reservoir with an approximate population of 6,000 permanent residents.
The Police Department is comprised of the Chief of Police and Assistant, two investigators, two patrol sergeants and eight patrol officers. The patrol division work a 12 hour schedule with every other Friday, Saturday and Sunday off.
Officers are responsible for answering radio dispatched calls for service, investigate crimes and motor vehicle crashes. Apprehend fugitives and serve warrants. Take offense and information reports. Perform the duties of a Peace Officer.

Job Requirements


Education, training, experience:
TCOLE Peace Officer License Required
Experience is a plus but is not required.
Ability to pass stringent background investigation
Ability to pass drug screen and physical. Must pass a psychological evaluation if
unemployed as a Peace Officer for more than 180 days
High School graduate or GED equivalent
Must be a US Citizen
Must have a valid drivers license with an acceptable driving record
Willing and able to work any shift
Good moral character
Good interpersonal skills with co-workers, supervisors and public
Ability to pass a written exam and oral interview board
Ability to complete an FTO program
