The City of Lancaster, Texas, is seeking a new Police Chief. The City has a population of nearly 37,000 and is located just 15 minutes from downtown Dallas, bordered by Interstates 20, 35, and 45.

The City of Lancaster operates under a Home Rule Charter with a Council-Manager form of government. The City Council appoints a professional City Manager who is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the organization. The Police Chief is appointed by the City manager, and the City Council confirms the City Manager’s appointment.

The Lancaster Police Department is a full-service law enforcement agency with 53 sworn officers and 5 civilian employees. The department is comprised of divisions including Administration, Criminal Investigations, Patrol, Records, Reserves, and Communications. The annual budget for the Police Department is approximately $5.5 million.

Bachelor’s Degree with five or more years of experience in senior level command staff, and a minimum of three years of advanced administrative level experience required. Master’s Degree preferred. Must possess or have the ability to obtain a TCLEOSE Master level police officer license, and be a graduate of an advanced law enforcement executive leadership program. Experience with Local Government 143 Civil Service Code management and “meet and confer” is highly desired. Being bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
