Job description:
Under general supervision of the Chief of Police. Performs administrative work in answering phones, receiving public inquiries, providing customer assistance, data processing, keeping official records, and assisting in the administration of standard operation of the Police Department.

Essential Functions:
Receives in-coming calls, emails, voicemails, faxes and routes callers or provides information as required.
Provides general information/procedures to general public
Assists in preparing payments for accident reports/alarm permits/report requests
Responds to information requests and routes required documentation to appropriate department
Receives, stamps, processes and distributes all outgoing and incoming mail.
Composes, types and edits a variety of correspondence
Assists in maintaining filing systems, record control and indexing using moderate independent judgment
Proofreads Accident Reports and Call for Service Reports
Prepares reports of outstanding alarm fines and sends to collection notices after approval.
Scans records into computer for Backup System
All other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

Education, training, experience:
Applicant must have experience working with Microsoft Office software products. Applicants must possess a high school diploma or G.E.D equivalent.

Considerable knowledge of general office procedures
Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
Ability to maintain effective working relations with employees, other departments, officials and the public
Ability to maintain accurate records
Ability to type and enter data accurately
