Job description:
The Texas Municipal League Intergovernmental Risk Pool, a dynamic service-oriented organization, has an immediate opening for a Fast Track Claims Specialist in the Legal/Subrogation Department working out of our main Austin office.

Responsible, within approved settlement authority, for timely processing, negotiating, and resolving a subrogation docket in excess of 200 cases. Reviews all in-coming office correspondence and handles accordingly. Reviews legal documents and other information from appropriate person or agency with accompanying correspondence and provide action or recommendations based on policy, procedures, and case law. Responds to general inquiries from Pool members, claimants, claimant's attorneys, third-parties, third-party insurance carriers, and third-party attorneys and refers inquiries when necessary. Appropriately identify cases within the assigned docket for transfer to litigation or monitor litigation cases as assigned. Prepare memos or reports to be used in-house or sent to members or outside counsel to facilitate handling of the claim. Responsible for noticing all parties of the lien and providing updates and substantiating documentation as the lien increases. Responsible for compiling and redacting privileged entries from medical records and preparing demand packets for presentation to parties. Exercise independent judgment in setting docket goals.

Job Requirements


Education, training, experience:
Applicants should possess significant verbal negotiation experience. Must be computer literate using standard word processing and database software. Successful candidates will have the ability to prepare original independent correspondence and have excellent listening skills and the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Knowledge of legal procedures and the insurance industry with the ability to analyze ind interpret policies, procedures, and case law is preferred. Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, officials, adjustors, attorneys, and the general public. Experience working in a legal department, law office, or insurance claims office preferred.
