Job description:
This is an exciting and rewarding position with the City of Baytown, part of the dynamic Sugarland/Houston/Baytown metropolis acknowledged as one of America’s top 5 cities for jobs. This position, located at the Fire Administration building, provides a strategic role in handling the day-to-day administrative functions for Fire and EMS operations. The role requires an individual who can communicate clearly and concisely with internal and external customers. Primary duties will include file organization and management, computer skills including data entry, word processing, spreadsheets, data bases, graphics software, mathematical computation, and report and letter preparation, all of which are vital to supporting the daily operational goals of the Baytown Fire Department. If selected for this critical role, team members and their eligible dependents who participate on the City’s health plan enjoy free medical care at the City operated Wellness Center. Attendance is an essential function of this position. The City reserves the right to require an employee in this position to work overtime. This position provides services or performs duties for the benefit of the general public during emergency situations. These may include services or duties different from those performed in the usual course and scope of your job. In the event of an evacuation, the incumbent in this position may be required to remain to perform needed services.

Job Requirements


Education, training, experience:
REQUIRED:
1. High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
2. Valid State Driver’s License with acceptable driving record.
3. Two years customer service or general office experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
4. Intermediate computer processing skills in Microsoft Office.
PREFERRED:
1. Bilingual
2. Experience in ambulance/EMS billing, or HCFA/ICD-9+ medical claim coding
3. Certified Ambulance Coder Certification
