Job description:
Provides administrative supervision, office management and emergency planning under the minimal supervision of the Emergency Management Coordinator. Ensures efficient operation of the office and assists with City activities regarding emergencies: planning, response, recovery and mitigation. Assists the Emergency Management Coordinator in development of programs that allow the City to comply with state and federal laws and requirements and to meet all major emergencies. Responsible for maintaining City and departmental Emergency Management Plans and oversee grant administration. Must be prepared to work extended hours during emergency situations. Serves as CERT Coordinator and coordinates instruction and management of CERT Teams. Must be prepared to work extended hours during emergency situations. May temporarily act as the Emergency Management Coordinator in his/her absence.

Attendance is an essential function of this position. The City reserves the right to require an employee in this position to work more than 40 hours a week. This position provides services or performs duties for the benefit of City employees and the general public during emergency situations. These may include services or duties different from those performed in the usual course and scope of your job. In the event of an evacuation, the incumbent in this position may be required to remain to perform needed services. Salaried Position, not eligible for an Emergency Conditions Waiver.

Education, training, experience:
REQUIRED:
1. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or an equivalent combination of relevant experience, training, or education
2. Prior personnel supervisory and management experience.
3. All NIMS Compliance Courses and ICS including 400..
4. Must complete FEMA Professional Development Series within 6 months of hire.
5. Clear criminal record.
6. Valid Texas driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
PREFERRED:
1. Bilingual Spanish speaking and writing.
2. AEM or CEM Accreditation from IAEM
