Job description:
The City of Bryan is seeking an Electric Relay Technican for the Transmission Division of Bryan Texas Utilities (BTU). This position performs electrical tests and repairs concerned with maintenance and performance evaluation of in-service relays to prevent and remedy abnormal behavior or failure of transmission and distribution lines and equipment. Troubleshoots complex control schemes.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Inspects, troubleshoots, calibrates and maintains transmission and distribution protective relays, pilot wire system and supervisory control system.
- Analyzes test results and interprets electrical diagrams to locate defective relay.
- Opens and closes switches to isolate defective relay and makes adjustments or removes relay for repair.
- Tests circuit and equipment to evaluate factors which affect the function of relay.
- Builds and uses test plans according to BTU & NERC standards.
- Analyzes test data to determine relay performance features and effect of system modifications on relay performance.
- Prepares reports and maintains records of work performed.
- Maintains communication with power plants and substations.
- Performs related duties as required.
- Responds regularly and promptly to work.

Job Requirements


Education, training, experience:
Requirementes include a HS Diploma/GED plus some additional related coursework or training and at least five (5) years of work experience in related field. An Associate's Degree or higher in related field of study is strongly preferred.

Equivalent combinations of education, experience, certification and training may be considered.
