Job description:

Attends training academies as assigned.

Patrols the Town and responds to citizen requests and complaints regarding possible criminal activity.

Enforces all parking ordinances.

Issues warnings and citations to violators of Town and state regulations. Arrests violators and transports to other facilities.

Investigates suspicious and criminal activity. Responds to emergency calls, traffic accidents and general requests for assistance.

Conducts crime scene search investigations. Lifts fingerprints, takes photographs, interviews suspects and takes statements.

Writes offense, incident, arrest and impoundment reports.

Informs the community of crime prevention and public safety programs.

Appears in court and testifies under oath.

Performs all duties related to fire rescue, including connecting and carry fire hoses, carrying and setting up ladders, directing water and chemicals on burning structures, vegetation, vehicles and other objects.

Rescues persons trapped in cars, burning buildings and other places.

Participates in fire prevention inspections, educational programs, pre-fire planning sessions and in service training.

Prepares and maintains records and files.

Tests and maintains fire hydrants. Conducts water flow analysis.

Drives and operates all fire and emergency medical related vehicles and equipment.

Cleans apparatus and equipment. Cleans the station.

Performs emergency medical treatment on sick or injured.

Ability to effectively communicate with employees, citizens and other law enforcement, fire and emergency medical agencies in order to discuss request for service or provide information regarding possible criminal activities or fire responsibilities. Employee will work with other departments and agencies in exchanging information or requesting assistance.

Job Requirements

Education, training, experience:
The minimum job requirements are as follows:

* U.S. Citizen

* 21 years of age
(applicants otherwise qualified may apply within 30 days of their 21st birthday but may not be appointed until their 21st birthday has passed);

*Bachelor's Degree from accredited college or university. Applicants possessing at least 60 college hours from an accredited college or university may apply with the understanding that not possessing a bachelor’s degree will affect their final testing score.

* Visual acuity of at least 20/100, correctable to 20/20

* Normal color vision and normal hearing in each ear

* Height and weight in proportion to size

* No felony convictions

* No Misdemeanor convictions involving moral turpitude or domestic violence (any applicant under current charge or indictment for any criminal offense, other than a traffic violation, is not acceptable);

* No recent use of narcotics, drugs, or controlled substances

* No DWI or DUID convictions within past 10 years

* Current Texas Vehicle Operator's License
