Job description:
The City of Bryan is seeking qualified candidates for Solid Waste Foreman. This position oversees, leads, and participates in the activities of solid waste equipment operators responsible for the safe and timely collection of refuse and trash pickup along designated residential routes.

Responsibilities include:

- Schedules and coordinates daily container pick-up operations of residential route drivers, including dispatch of employees to assigned work location and preparation of daily route log; directs personnel in route changes as necessary to ensure all routes are completed in a timely manner.

- Responds to complaints and customer inquiries; enforces municipal solid waste ordinances.

- Develops, coordinates and problem solves daily collection routes and assists equipment operators in collecting these routes on time.

- Communicates City ordinances and policies to team and residents in an effort to educate proper disposal procedures.

- Assesses on-site collection issues, makes appropriate decisions and directs team and/or citizen to remedy issue.

- Maintains tracking record for amount of residential solid waste collected daily, monthly and yearly.

- Performs related or other duties as required.

Job Requirements

Education, training, experience:
- High School Diploma/GED plus a minimum of 2 years additional training or education in area of specialization plus 8-10 years related work experience; OR any equivalent combination of education, experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job.

- Must possess demonstrated leadership skills.

- Must possess strong public contact and customer service skills.

- Must possess a Class C driver's license and have the ability to obtain a Class B CDL within timeframe set by department.

- Solid Waste Class A certification issued by Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) is preferred, but not required. Once hired, the certification must be obtained within timeframe set by the department.
