Job description:
• Employee will perform public awareness and educational programs to various audiences
• Employee will maintain a working relationship with and support local broadcast and print media outlets and social networking
• Employee will be required to become knowledgeable of the District Management Plan
• Employee will be required to become knowledgeable of the Rules of the District
• Employee will perform Enforcement of District Rules and Regulations
• Employee will travel both within and outside the District to perform duties
• Employee will work closely with office personnel
• Employee will inform the General Manager of the progress of the District’s Public Relations Program
• Employee will complete other job duties as deemed necessary by the District

PRINCIPLE DUTIES:
• Track progress on District Management Plan compliances
• Compose annual report on District Management Plan compliances
• Design, develop, coordinate and administer public awareness and school educational programs pertaining to water conservation
• Prepare and disseminate education brochures, flyers, news articles and advertisements regarding the aquifers, conservation and the District
• Oversee District participation in the Water IQ public awareness program or similar community focused program
• Administer, evaluate and distribute water conservation curriculum to school teachers
• Participate, as needed, in public interviews
• Coordinate and develop regular press releases, public notices, written articles and solicit attention from print, TV and radio media for activities
• Present conservation and mobile teaching lab presentations for a wide variety of audiences including classrooms and homeowners associations
• Plan and enact recognition programs (i.e., Conservation Awards, Scholarship Program)
• Plan and organize booth events for the District (Fair/Rodeo, Earth Day, Water Camp, etc.)
• Seek out and apply for grant funding to support education and conservation activities
• Attend related organizational meetings
• Handling of various printing jobs
• Handle special projects as instructed by the General Manager
• Provide monthly reports to the General Manager
• Assist in the planning and management of the annual budget

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AS REQUIRED:
• Attend meetings as requested
• Operate computer programs as required
• Prepare reports as instructed by General Manager or Office Personnel
• Assist with other areas of the District programs as assigned by the General Manager
• Maintenance of equipment belonging to the District
• Maintenance of Building and Grounds
• Must maintain District Vehicle
• Must be able to work evenings and weekends as needed
• Any other duties deemed necessary by the General Manager

Job Requirements


Education, training, experience:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• A Bachelors degree in communication, mass communication, education, geographic education, or closely related field, or the combination of education and work experience
• Above average knowledge of computer programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook are preferred
• Must have personable nature, trustworthy and able to work under pressure and deadlines
• Must possess good customer service qualities
• Strong communication skills are required, both written and verbal, especially with public speaking and teaching/instruction
• Should possess above-average organizational skills and abilities
• Valid Texas Driver’s license with good driving record
• Must be able to pass a drug screen and background check
• Knowledge of the District's counties is helpful, but not required.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to be outside in all weather conditions Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
