Job description:
The purpose of this position is to provide professional level support to the City Manager. This position will participate in the review and development of the City Council agenda packets and identify areas to improve the process. This position will compose memorandums, letters and other documents for the City Manager, provide customer service support to citizens research policies and procedures and complete special projects as assigned, coordinate special events, interface frequently with citizens and other City employees.

Essential Functions:

• Prepares the City Council Agenda Packets and reports which includes reviewing, editing and compiling documents and supporting materials supplied by the various departments; writing Council communications and resolutions from the City Manager; identifies areas in the agenda process that can be improved to increase efficiency and ensures information flow is correct and accurate.

• Provides support to the City Manager by researching, compiling and composing various policies and procedures; composing responses and written correspondences to residents, City Council and City employees regarding policies and issues; completing special projects as assigned; and coordinating special events, meetings and workshops when appropriate.

• Attends Executive Staff meetings, and agenda review meetings to ensure items are scheduled appropriately for City Council; ensuring the information included in materials accurately reflect the intent of the message; represents the City Manager’s Office at various meetings to be kept apprised of issues as they arise.

• Work with the City Manager to coordinate and schedule quarterly employee meetings and regular meetings with the City Council; represent the City Manager in the organization and utilize strong interpersonal skills to work with various city employees on projects.

• Represent the City Manager’s Office at various meetings including those requiring interagency coordination, keep the City Manager apprised of issues as they arise.

• Interacts with the public by responding to inquiries both verbal and written, assisting departments with customer resolutions, addressing concerns, and ensuring customers are informed of the status of their inquiries

• Actively participate in leading the City’s P.R.I.D.E. program to ensure the City’s organizational values of People First, Respect, Integrity, Deliver and Excel continue to guide employee decision making.

Job Requirements


Education, training, experience:
Formal Education / Knowledge
Work requires broad knowledge in a general professional or technical field. Knowledge is normally acquired through four years of college resulting in a Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Public Administration, Business or related field.

Experience
Two years of relevant experience.

Certification and Other Requirements
Valid Texas Drivers License
