Job description:
Issue building and other applicable permits, licenses and certificates of occupancy; provide information and documents to contractors, developers, general public and other parties related to building and development within the city. Maintains files on and tracks the status of the certificate of occupancy process. Answer the telephone and transfers callers to appropriate parties; responds to questions and requests for information regarding fees, codes, and permits. Prepare inspection schedules; review permit applications to ensure completeness. Initiate new water and sewer service requests for residential and commercial customers. Calculate permit and impact fees, and fees for new water meters and sewer taps; receive money for permits and fees; reconcile the cash drawer daily. Perform a wide variety of general clerical work including the maintenance of accurate and detailed files and records; verify accuracy of information, research discrepancies and record information. Prepare monthly and yearly reports as requested. Prepare necessary documentation and research in a timely manner to ensure compliance with records management as required by state laws (i.e., open records requests).

Job Requirements


Education, training, experience:
High school diploma or GED equivalent plus two years experience in customer service, permitting, or related field required. Must successfully complete required pre-employment screens including drug test, criminal background check and credit history check.
