Job description:
Performs professional duties to support the department’s overall mission. Uses judgment and decision making skills to determine the release of information in accordance with the Public Information Act. Interprets City ordinance, State and Federal statutes and Attorney General opinions and rulings when complying with open records requests. Composes and prepares letter briefing arguments to the Attorney General’s office. Creates and maintains an open records database. Utilizes word processing and spreadsheet software.

Attendance is an essential function of this position. The City reserves the right to require an employee in this position to work overtime. This position provides services or performs duties for the benefit of the general public during emergency situations. These may include services or duties different from those performed in the usual course and scope of your job. In the event of an evacuation, the incumbent in this position may be required to remain to perform needed services.

Job Requirements


Education, training, experience:
REQUIRED:
1. High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) plus specialized course work or advanced training in a related field.
2. Three year’s experience in a related field OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
3. TLETS, TCIC, and NCIC course certification must be completed within one year from date of hire.
4. JIMS and Model 204 courses must be completed within one year from date of hire.
5. Advanced computer skills.
6. Ability to become bondable and qualify as a notary public.
7. Ability to pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility.
PREFERRED:
1. Bilingual
