Job description:
The City of Leander is seeking a full time Utility Billing Assistant. The essential duties include:
• Prepare and verify all aspects of billing customer accounts.
• Supervise utility clerks in absence of Utility Billing Supervisor.
• Provide excellent customer service.
• Understand and adhere to policies and procedures.
• Provide accurate information regarding Utility services.
• Process payments, answer telephone, send notices/correspondence.
• Possess good judgment and skills relating to time management and workflow scheduling.
• Possess good oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work under stressful conditions.

Job Requirements


Education, training, experience:
Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or one year to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prefer biligingual; and overtime maybe necessary on occuasion. Individual must synthesize complex or diverse information. Collects and researches data.Designs workflows and procedures.

Must have intermediate knowledge of Word and Excel; ability to perform data entry with diligent attention to detail; operate a 10-key calculator; must possess basic understanding of accounting principles, prioritize events and use good judgment in managing a workflow calendar. Must possess excellent customer service skills and have the ability to interact with the public. Good knowledge of department policies and city ordinance pertaining to Utilities and customer billing. Must display courtesy and sensitivity; Manages difficult or emotional customer situations. Balances team and individual responsibilities. Contribute to building a positive team spirit and puts success of team above own interests.
