Job description:
Under general supervision of the Economic Development Director, supports economic development activities such as marketing, client recruiting, fund raising, grant administration, recordkeeping, consultation with clients, and existing business expansion and retention. The primary function is to assist with researching, planning, organizing, prioritizing and follow-up work to broaden the business attraction, retention and expansion programs of the City of San Angelo Development Corporation (COSADC), including staff support for incubator and angel investor network functions. Develops and coordinates efforts in obtaining and servicing clients. Client recruiting functions include marketing, identification, recruitment, analysis and custom contracting with clients. Client servicing functions include providing physical facilities, financial consultation, general business consultation, information relating to capital resources, lending and grant programs. Assembles and formats content for client communications, presentations and proposals; develops target presentations, reports and information for clients; assists and coordinates arrangements for client visits. Develops grant applications and the administration of those grants once received; maintains complete client files and development projects; manages electronic client tracking and prepares periodic reports. Establishes and maintains liaison relationships with local financial institutions, financing alternative institutions, civic entities, and governmental entities. Provides administrative support for the programs of the Concho Valley Center for Entrepreneurial Development (CVCED) and the Concho Valley Angel Network (CVAN). Assists the Economic Development Director in communication with clients and other economic development allies. Prepares background information, agendas, minutes, special reports and other documents to support official board of director and other meetings for the City of San Angelo City Council and Development Corporation, CVCED, and CVAN; prepares other special and financial reports as requested and performs other related duties as assigned. Hours: Mon.-Fri., 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Job Requirements

Education, training, experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Accounting, Finance, Business Communication or related field; AND a minimum of two years related experience in accounting, marketing and/or contract management; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Required Knowledge of economic development and business attraction principles, to include business startup, planning and funding; business administration and advanced administrative practices and procedures including basic accounting principles; research and report development of complex issues including legal and financial; ability to identify business capital needs and the appropriate capital sources. Substantial knowledge of financial planning, a strong analytical ability, and cash flow forecasting experience. Required Skill in organizational planning, customer and public relations, basic accounting and budgetary skills; excellent communication, both oral and written; preparing, editing and developing sensitive and confidential correspondence. Must be able to effectively manage multiple projects, complete projects within established deadlines, and report to multiple oversight entities and boards; have experience in QuickBooks or similar bookkeeping systems and be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint. A valid operator’s license with a good driving record required.
