Job description:
No supervisory or budgetary responsibilities.


1. Responds to radio calls for all types of police services.
2. Patrols assigned geographic area to identify and deter criminal activity, aids citizens needing assistance, and arrests violators of the laws.
3. Issues citations and investigates traffic accidents.
4. Testifies in legal proceedings.
5. Conducts investigations of criminal offenses, missing persons, and all public safety incidents.
6. Responsible for preparing written reports as required by specific assignment.
7. Intervenes and mediates in crisis situations and all types of disputes.
8. Instructs citizens, businesses, school, and civic organizations about methods and techniques that may help prevent citizens from becoming victims of crime.
9. Develops and implements community-based policing strategies and programs.
10. Executes misdemeanor and felony warrants of arrest.
11. May serve as Court Bailiff for Municipal Court.


12. Performs all other related duties as assigned.
13. Operates assigned police vehicles in a safe manner to avoid accidents.

Ability to read, interpret, learn and apply laws, regulations and departmental policies and procedures.
Knowledge of human behavior and motivation.
Ability to communicate effectively with all types of individuals.
Ability to remain calm and decisive under extreme stress.
Ability to distinguish between red, yellow, and green in order to accurately describe suspects and vehicles and to identify traffic lights and sign colors.
Ability to pass a polygraph, medical examination and a drug screen.
Ability to pass background investigation.
May require other skills, knowledge and abilities depending on assigned area of responsibility.

High school diploma or GED required.

Law enforcement or related experience preferred.

Valid State of Texas Driver's License (Class "C") required.
Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education License required.
Minimum Age - 21
Successful completion of the physical examination specified for the position.
Candidates are required to pass a polygraph, background investigation, drug screen, and written examination.
Must have vision correctable to 20/20 binocular.
Must be able to distinguish between the colors red, yellow, and green.

Police Officer Qualifications & Requirements
Be a U.S. Citizen
Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age at the time of the written examination.
High school graduate or have obtained a G.E.D. and 12 hours of college, or 2 years of active military service with an honorable discharge (applies only to non-certified applicants).
Fingerprinted and subjected to a search of records to disclose a criminal record.
Driving record in compliance with City of Krum driving policy.
* No more than (1) motor vehicle accidents and no more than (2) traffic convictions on his Department of Public Safety driving record during the preceding thirty-six (36) months.
* No conviction of Driving While Intoxicated or Driving Under the Influence of Drugs in your lifetime.
Be able to identify license plate numbers of automobiles at six (6) car lengths while traveling 60 mph. This requires vision correctable to 20/20 binocular for all hours of the day including day, evening and night.
Be able to successfully pass a background investigation to include a polygraph examination.
Be able to successfully pass a post-offer physical examination, psychological examination and a drug screen.
Meet all required TCLEOSE requirements to be licensed as a police officer

Job Requirements

Education, training, experience:
Qualified applicant must have TCLEOSE Certification, a high school diploma or equivalent, valid TX driver’s license, and no drug or felony convictions.
