Job description:
This is an official and manager level professional position which is responsible for complex administrative support to city council and administrative direction for planning and overseeing the activities and operations of the City Secretary Department. City Records Management Officer requiring knowledge of the Texas Open Government and Texas Public Information Laws, Texas Election Code, and other governmental laws and procedures. Provide administrative direction for citywide records management; the process for codification, supplement update and electronic distribution of the Code of Ordinances and Development Code; administrative direction for the electronic process for council meetings and recording of legislative actions; and ensure compliance with all prescribed laws and mandated requirements. Supervises the records retention program for the City and maintains, processes, and responds to Public Information Act requests. Conducts city elections including preparation of the ordinance and supervises election personnel. Serves as liaison between Mayor, Council, and citizens. Requires residency within the city limits of the City of Galveston upon appointment.

Job Requirements

Education, training, experience:
Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university, or three to five years related experience or equivalent combination. Municipal Clerks Certification preferred.
