Job description:
Administer customer service operations and direct the work of the Senior and Customer Service Representatives. Perform duties, to include, but not limited to, preparing monthly and annual reports, preparing work schedules and implementing work procedures, and handling high impact and complex customer service issues. Manage, coordinate, and monitor activities to provide timely and accurate utility billing and collection functions related to electric, water, sewer, garbage, and drainage services.

Principle Job Duties

1. Supervise the Utility Customer Service staff including prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff are trained; ensuring that employees follow policies and procedures; maintaining a healthy and safe working environment; and making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations.

2. Respond to and resolve citizen inquiries. Determine cause of problems/questions and recommend appropriate measures to correct deficiencies and/or to improve service delivery methods and procedures.

3. Supervise the day-to-day activities of the Utility Customer Service staff, which includes planning, coordinating, administering, and evaluating programs, projects, processes, procedures, systems, standards, and/or service offerings; monitors and ensures compliance with Federal, State, and local laws, regulations, codes, and/or standards.

4. Prepare, review, interpret, and analyze a variety of information, data, and reports; make recommendations based on findings.

5. Represent the department and/or City at a variety of meetings, public events, training sessions, committees, and/or other related events.

6. Act as the Utilities Office Manager in his/her absence.

7. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements


Education, training, experience:
Required: Associate's Degree in a related field, and five (5) years related customer service, clerical, or function-specific experience including two (2) years of leadership experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.

Preferred: Bachelors Degree in business administration, accounting, or related field and five (5) years experience with increasing responsibility in customer service operations.
