Job Description

Job description:
• Monitors raw and finished water parameters.
• Performs process control and jar testing to assist in the operation of the plant
• Assists in maintaining compliance with TCEQ rules and regulations
• Maintains inventory of bulk process chemicals and assist in preparing bid documents.
• Maintains process lab chemical inventory.
• Performs calibrations on laboratory equipment.
• Maintains and updates Laboratory Standard Operating Procedures and Laboratory QA/QC Manual.
• Serves as QA/QC officer in the laboratory
• Assists with maintenance of Laboratory Certification

Attendance is an essential function of this position. The City reserves the right to require an employee to work overtime. As a City employee you are required to provide services or perform duties for the benefit of the general public during emergency situations. These may include services or duties different from those performed in the usual course and scope of your job. In the event of an evacuation you may be required to remain to perform needed services.

Job Requirements

Education, training, experience:
1. Bachelor’s degree in a Science Discipline or approved equivalent experience.
2. Two (2) years experience at a surface water treatment plant as a laboratory technician or in an operator’s capacity OR 32 hours of college level courses majoring in Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, or similar disciplines.
3. Must obtain a Grade “B” Surface Water License from TCEQ within three years of hire date.
4. Valid Texas driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
1. Grade “A” Water License from TCEQ.
2. Bachelor’s Degree in Science Discipline such as Biology, Chemistry, etc.
3. Background in Laboratory with NELAP certification.
