Job description:
The purpose of this position is to provide a variety of technical and clerical duties in support of the municipal court. This is accomplished by processing financial and municipal court transactions, preparing court dockets for pre-trial and plea court, processing bench and jury trial dockets, and sending notices for the attorney docket. Other duties include filing and providing customer service to both external and internal customers. Other duties include assisting at the window with defendants, entering citations, and translating to and from the Spanish language.

Job Requirements


Education, training, experience:
Process financial and municipal court transactions by receiving and filing cases to be heard by the Municipal Court; processing citations; performing data entry of citations and cases; receiving, recording and tracking payments of fines and bonds; explaining case options to defendants in person and on the telephone; assisting attorneys in filing appeals; tracking overdue cases and warrants; and assisting in balancing municipal court records at the end of the month.
Conduct a variety of clerical functions in support of the municipal court by completing necessary filing and sorting and preparing docket folders.
Complete routine support tasks primarily involving customer service and clerical activities by answering the phone and taking messages, referring callers, processing requests for information, maintaining calendars, typing, entering and recording data and correspondence, answering routine inquiries, and maintaining correspondence, files, and reports.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Work requires knowledge necessary to understand basic operational, technical, or office processes. Level of knowledge equivalent to a high school diploma or equivalency. No experience required. Possession of, or ability to obtain, a Texas Driver's License. Must obtain Court Clerk Level I certificate with the Texas Court Clerk Association (TCCA) within eighteen (18) months of hire. Court Clerk Level II is preferred. Ability to read, write, and speak Spanish fluently is preferred.
