Job description:
The purpose of this position is to provide high level assistance to an assigned Director with a variety of administrative, budgetary, research and management functions. This is accomplished by coordinating and directing activities of other staff members and by planning and executing various tasks related to assigned projects. Other duties include managing assigned contracts; performing project management; researching and coordinating special projects as directed by the Director and City Council.

•Provide highly complex and professional staff assistance to an assigned director by preparing and executing various tasks related to assigned projects; preparing and presenting staff reports and other necessary correspondence; developing and presenting recommendations on programs, policies, and procedures as a result of assigned projects; and serving as a liaison to civic and appointed boards, commissions, and committees.
•Oversee the budget preparation for an assigned division or department; coordinating and performing public outreach for departmental issues, coordinating several high profile management contracts, and providing high-level database management for assigned projects.
•Respond to and resolve difficult and sensitive inquiries and complaints from residents by preparing written correspondence on related issues, communicating with the public regarding complaints, concerns, and requests for information.
•Provide administrative support by participating in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies and priorities relating to departmental operations, identifying opportunities for improving methods and procedures, and identifying resource needs and implementing improvements.
•Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements


Education, training, experience:
Equivalent to a Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in public administration, environmental science, business administration, or related field. Masters degree preferred. Up to two (2) years of relevant experience. Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Texas Drivers License.
