Job description:
Maintain, upgrade, coordinate and troubleshoot the servers, desktops, laptops, MDT’s and associated peripherals that are joined to the Public Safety domain.
• Maintain, upgrade, coordinate and troubleshoot hardware and standard software on all servers joined to the Public Safety domain.
• Setup and maintain the daily backup jobs on all servers joined to the Public Safety domain.
• Maintain, upgrade, coordinate and troubleshoot all desktop and laptop computers, MDT’s and peripherals (Printers, Scanners, Modems, etc.) joined to the Public Safety domain.
• Install Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) client software and CAD updates on Public Safety servers, laptops, MDT’s and desktop computers.
• Setup, maintain and troubleshoot broadband and the City’s WiFi connectivity to MDT’s.
• Works with third party software vendors to install, troubleshoot and maintain hardware and software on Public safety domain servers.
• Communicates with Communications, County EMS and Sheriff’s Offices regarding NWS and Mobility software changes.
• Maintains and troubleshoots the server hardware, hard drive storage and software for the Police cars’ video recording system.
• Responds to after-hours and weekend public safety technology emergencies and needs.
• Performs other duties as assigned by I.T. Manager.

Job Requirements


Education, training, experience:
MCSE or MCITP Certifications required or obtainable prior to completing one year of employment; valid Texas driver’s license.
Knowledge Of
Microsoft Windows desktop and server operating systems and applications and SQL server; applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations governing police and other department records, computer aided dispatch systems; telecommunications procedures; department policies and procedures; standard office practices and procedures;
High school graduate and at least one year of experience as a domain administrator or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Associate’s degree in computer science or information technology or equivalent from two-year college or technical school preferred.
