Job description:
Collect municipal solid waste. Operate and maintain a rear-end load truck, an open-top brush/rubbish truck, a boom-type brush/rubbish truck, a roll-off truck, an automated collection truck or a front-end loading truck while handling the solid waste stream on an assigned route.


1. Drive a garbage collection vehicle in traffic on an assigned route.

2. Check daily work assignments as to special requests or citizen complaints, contacting customers as needed.

3. Wash and clean assigned collection vehicle.

4. Assure collection vehicle is in operating condition and properly maintained by regularly inspecting for operational efficiency.

5. Report personnel injuries, vehicle accidents, and container damage.

6. Perform daily pre-trip/post-trip inspections of assigned vehicle and perform minor/routine repairs.

7. Maintain a daily route sheet of collection information and report service problems.

8. Perform related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Education, training, experience:

High school diploma or GED equivalent. Must possess Class “B” CDL issued by the State of Texas or obtain within 90 days of hire.


Class "D" Solid Waste Technician Letter of Competency issued by the Texas Natural Resource Conservation Commission.
