Job Description

Job description:
Protects life and property by safely extinguishing fires and removing individuals from hazardous situations; assisting in fire prevention activities; involvement in other emergency and non-emergency situations, such as inspections, maintenance of equipment; and conducting other related duties. All qualified candidates will be required to undergo a polygraph, psychological, drug screen, physical and in-depth background check. Attendance is an essential function of this position. The City reserves the right to require an employee to work overtime.

Job Requirements

Education, training, experience:
1. High School Diploma/GED.
2. Valid Texas driver's license with acceptable driving record.
3. Must obtain CDL Class B license within one year of hire date.
4. Must be at least 19 years of age and less than 36 years of age at the time of the entrance examination.
5. Must be able to read and write English.
6. Possess National Registry of Emergency Medical Technician Certification as an Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic or Texas Department of State Health Services Certification or Licensed Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic.
7. Must meet all legal requirements necessary to become eligible for certification by the Texas Commission on Fire Protection. Once classified as a firefighter, must possess the Basic Firefighter Certification from the Commission on Fire Protection Personnel Standards and Education.
8. Will be required to pass all pre-employment tests before hire.
9. Must be a United States citizen.
