Job Description


Job description:
This is a full time position that will work in the city's Streets Department.

•Regular and timely attendance at work
•Maintains drainage and culverts
•Assists with concrete work and asphalt
•Performs some building maintenance and janitorial duties
•Trims trees and mow ROW
•Cleans storm lines with jet truck
•Performs carpentry work
•Operates equipment such as mower, edger, heavy equipment, power saw and hand tools
•Operates/drives trucks and equipment of various sizes to haul, load, and unload materials
•Responsible for the maintenance of tools and equipment.
•Installs, constructs, repairs and maintains playground equipment, water fountains, foot bridges, restrooms, picnic tables, picnic shelters, and other structures on City property
•Performs facility maintenance activities including cleaning, painting, swimming pool maintenance, fence repairs and minor carpentry and construction work
•Assists other divisions of the Public Works Department as needed including standby and emergency call up
•Assists in the preparations for special functions such as installing Christmas lights
•Assists in the repair and maintenance of park trails and removing dead trees
•Reports defective or dangerous equipment or conditions to supervisors
•Performs other related duties as assigned



PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The work is typically performed while intermittently sitting, standing, stooping, walking (sometimes over uneven terrain), bending, crouching, reach with hands and arms, and taste or smell. While performing these duties, the employee is regularly required to have full range of mobility in upper and lower body. The employee frequently lifts and/or moves light objects up to 10 pounds, and heavy objects of 100 pounds or over, climbs ladders, and uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and peripheral vision. Specific auditory abilities required by the job include the ability to hear and speak effectively and to function adequately to ensure the requirements of job are met.

Job Requirements


Education, training, experience:
High School Graduate, GED certificate, or equivalent. One (1) year previous experience working in maintenance or related construction preferred. Must possess a current State of Texas driver's license. State of Texas Class "B" CDL driver's license preferred. Skill in operating and maintaining job related tools and equipment.
