Job description:
North Central Texas Council of Governments is seeking two part-time Interns to provide support to the Department of Emergency Preparedness. Responsibilities may include creating and maintaining project databases and spreadsheets; updating the agency mitigation plan; creating departmental continuity of operations guidelines; social media support and guideline development; providing technical assistance for outside agencies; assisting with a regional full scale exercise; committee meeting setup, preparation and support; maintaining, creating and distributing various reports; and consulting with departmental staff, regional stakeholders and jurisdictional representatives concerning issues within the realm of emergency management.

Position will be hired immediately and is expected to work for a period of 6 months to 1 year. Candidate must be currently enrolled in an accredited university with an anticipated enrollment in the fall. Must also have the ability to work approximately 20-25 hours per week while attending school.

Education, training, experience:
Ability to conduct research, analyze and/or present the results for further evaluation

Grant Research/Opportunities
FEMA NIMS Typing Standards

Write reports based on historical data

Strong technical writing skills

Ability to format data into published product

Data analysis for surveys conducted

Knowledge of Microsoft products such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Knowledge and/or experience assisting with full scale exercises is preferred

Work requires knowledge in a general professional or technical field that may be obtained with six-months/one year of advanced study or training past the high school equivalency. Must be attending an accredited college or university during employment. Pursuit of a degree in Emergency Management or Public Administration is preferred, but not required.
