Job description:
Responsible for purchasing and receiving new library materials and resolving ordering, invoicing and fulfillment problems. Also, responsible for maintaining database records for library materials acquisition and creating reports related to these activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1) Placing, tracking and completing orders using a variety of computer software and systems.
2) Receiving materials, invoicing received materials in library ILS, and preparing invoices for City Accounts Payable.
3) Resolving claims and problems using phone, fax, written correspondence.
4) Dispersing received materials to proper locations.
5) Maintaining records relating to acquisitions process.
6) Creating and distributing reports relating to acquisition processes.
7) Receiving and signing for library deliveries
8) Providing direct service to library patrons, as required

Physical Requirements / Work Environment
The incumbent works in a typical office environment but performing some physical labor, exposure to dust and travel to various sites may occur. Physical tasks will include lifting, squatting, bending, stooping, walking, and carrying supplies, as needed, to accomplish the tasks of the activity on a daily basis. Primary environment will be in a climate controlled, indoor atmosphere. Must be able to lift/carry 50 pounds and push/ pull 200 pound wheeled book cart. Must have the ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.

Job Requirements

Education, training, experience:
Minimum Qualifications
• High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (G.E.D.)
• 2-4 years experience producing financial records for organizations, recording financial transactions, updating statements or checking financial records for accuracy using computer technologies
Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Knowledge of basic arithmetic
• Skill operating a computer keyboard
• Skill in using basic computer spreadsheet and word processing programs
• Ability to produce accurate financial records
• Ability to reconcile order records with materials received
• Ability to type 40 words per minute
• Ability to organize materials according to alpha and numeric system
• Ability to communicate and interact effectively with others

Preferred Qualifications
Education/ Experience:
• Associate’s Degree in Library technology with coursework in acquisitions, serials, circulation and library automated systems
• College Coursework in Business, Accounting, Computer Office Apps, English Comp or Business writing, and Office Technology
• 6 months-1 year customer service experience in a public or retail environment

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Knowledge of library organization and cataloging systems
• Knowledge of library material acquisition policies, processes and procedures

Licenses and Certifications
• Valid Class C Texas driver's license
