Retirement plan is through Public Employees Retirement Association of New Mexico. This position is eligible for a phone allowance and car allowance.

Job description:
The City of Portales is accepting applications for the position of City Manager, Chief Executive Officer for the City responsible for operation of the City organization with a $22.6 million budget.
Incumbent of this position performs under minimal direction of a Mayor/Council form of government. Responsibilities include supervision of departments and 150 employees.
Must be eligible for a valid New Mexico driver's license within 30 days of hire. Applications will be excepted until position is filled. Review begins April 1, 2013.

Job Requirements

Education, training, experience:
Applicants should have graduated from an accredited four year college or university with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Public Management, Political Science or a related field with five years management experience as a municipal administrator and at least 7-8 years of progressively responsible administrative experience in the public sector. An MPA or MBA is preferred.
