Responsibilities: Under general supervision, the purpose of this position is to ensure compliance to plans and specifications for City construction projects such as street/alley paving, earthwork/grading, water, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, drainage, materials testing, and project safety. Employees in this classification perform professional and technical level work and possess considerable knowledge of applicable municipal, regional, and state regulatory practices. Position is responsible for monitoring quality control, construction site safety, and safe handling of traffic in construction and maintenance areas. Work involves technical examinations and the application of standard trade practices to inspection work. Inspections are conducted independently but in accordance with department regulations and established technical standards. Performs other related work as required.

Hiring Range: $18.74 - $22.96
Pay Range: $18.74 - $27.17

Job Requirements


Education, training, experience:
Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) is required. Must have vocational/technical training and five (5) years of inspection and/or construction related experience. Ability to read and understand construction plans, shop drawings, standard details, and specifications related to applicable municipal, regional, and state regulatory practices is required. The ability to be certified by the American Public Works Association for Public Works and Construction Inspection is preferred. Must possess a valid Class C Texas Driver’s License. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
