Job description:
Performs standardized chemical and bacteriological laboratory tests on water and wastewater influents and effluents. Creates, records and maintains test results in automated or manual recording systems. Prepares chemical and bacteriological media, reagents and test solutions used in laboratory. Measures, weighs and sterilizes media for laboratory tests. Trains other employees to perform routine tests accurately and in accordance with laboratory procedures. Performs quality assurance and quality control testing. Prepares periodic reports of findings. Ability to read and understand technical writing instruction. Makes schedules for testing, evaluates procedures, and makes recommendations to increase efficiency. Prepares samples for shipment to laboratories for complex chemical or bacteriological analysis. Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements


Education, training, experience:
Three (3) years experience conducting laboratory tests; or may substitute course work or training in wastewater treatment, chemistry, biological, or bacteriological laboratory procedures. Must be able to obtain a class ā€œDā€ Level Wastewater Certificate of competency as mandated by TCEQ within one (1) year of employment. Must be able to obtain class ā€œCā€ Level Wastewater Certificate of competency within two years of employment and to maintain current certification to remain in the position.
