Job description:
Promotes public safety by enforcement of state laws and local ordinances dealing with rabies control, cruelty to animals, and health code standards.

Attendance is an essential function of this position. The City reserves the right to require an employee in this position to work overtime. This position provides services or performs duties for the benefit of the general public during emergency situations. These may include services or duties different from those performed in the usual course and scope of your job. In the event of an evacuation, the incumbent in this position may be required to remain to perform needed services.

Job Requirements


Education, training, experience:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, & EXPERIENCE:
REQUIRED:
1. High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
2. Six months customer service related experience.
3. Valid Texas driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
4. Basic State Certification in Animal Control must be obtained within the first year of employment.
5. Euthanasia Certification must be obtained with the first year of employment, as now required by DSHS.
PREFERRED:
1. State Certification.
2. Six months animal related experience including but not limited to ranching, handling farm animals, humane organization activity/rescue groups, animal breeding.
