Starting Salary: $77,922

The purpose of the position is to direct and perform highly technical and specialized inspection and administrative work in connection with the enforcement of City codes and ordinances. Employees in this class supervise building and construction inspections and permitting functions. Employees in this classification perform professional and supervisory work. Position maintains current knowledge of trends and changes in federal, state, and local regulatory practices. Performs related work as required.

Job Requirements


Education, training, experience:
Vocational/Technical degree with training emphasis in Building Trades; supplemented by seven (7) years previous progressively responsible experience in the field; two (2) years of which shall be acquired in a supervisory capacity; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Ability to obtain and maintain a valid state driver’s license.

Knowledge of building laws, rules, regulations, codes and ordinances.
Knowledge of construction practices, planning, design, materials, specifications and supplies.
Knowledge of customer service and public relations methods and practices.
Knowledge of computers and related equipment, hardware and software.
Skill in effective oral and written communications.
Skill in planning and implementing division procedures and objectives.
Skill in effectively supervising and delegating duties to assigned staff.
Skill in resolving customer complaints and concerns.


Any work related experience resulting in acceptable proficiency levels in the above Minimum Qualifications is an acceptable substitute for the above specified education and experience requirements.
