Job description:
Extinguishes fires, assists in fire prevention activities, and responds to emergency and non-emergency situations.

•Responds to and assists company in suppressing structural, vehicle, wildland, chemical and other fires.
•Responds to medical emergencies and assists company in administering basic life support and advanced life support.
•Responds to accidents, and assists company in rendering the scene safe, operating hydraulic, pneumatic, and hand rescue equipment.
•Responds to and assists company in stabilizing hazardous materials incidents until clean-up can begin. In minor spills, assist with and perform clean-up.
•Responds to and assists company in performing technical rescues in swift water, confined spaces, trench collapse, low to high angle and other forms of entrapment.
•Responds to and assists company in assisting the public with non-emergency problems.
•Operates and oversees the use of numerous types of vehicles, equipment, tools, and apparatus.

Job Requirements


Education, training, experience:
Must Be at least nineteen (19) years of age and not more than thirty-six (36) years of age at the time of hire.
Must be Texas Commission on Fire Protection Certified Structural Firefighter and Texas Department of State Health Services Certified EMT or currently enrolled in a commissions approved academy and TDH approved EMT class.
A copy of certification must be provided by the test date. If possible, please upload the certification to your City of Round Rock application.
If currently enrolled in an academy or EMT class, include a letter from the coordinator stating anticipated completion date.

Paramedic certification preferred.
Additional testing will be required.
Must possess, or have the ability to obtain, an appropriate valid Texas drivers' license and possess a driving record which meets current City auto liability insurance requirements.
Must pass a drug screening test and criminal history background review.
