Job description:
This is a highly responsible and complex position that contributes to the design, administration and official functions of the City Clerk Department policies and procedures. Assists in planning, directing, managing and overseeing the activities and operations of the City Clerk Department, assists in budget preparation and administration, and assumes all responsibilities of the City Clerk in his/her absence or as directed. Directly supervises departmental support staff, oversees office tasks including developing and evaluating programs, procedures, practices and policies, researching and analyzing. This position requires knowledge of governmental laws and procedures, requirements and policies of the City, the State and of the office of the City Clerk.

Attendance is an essential function of this position. The City reserves the right to require an employee in this position to work more than 40 hours a week. This position provides services or performs duties for the benefit of the general public during emergency situations. These may include services or duties different from those performed in the usual course and scope of your job. In the event of an evacuation, the incumbent in this position may be required to remain to perform needed services.

Job Requirements


Education, training, experience:
REQUIRED:
1. Four Year degree from an accredited college or university OR equivalent education and directly related experience.
2. Three years experience in advanced level support or City Clerks’ Office.
3. Advanced computer skills.
4. Supervisor experience.
5. Valid Texas driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
PREFERRED:
1. A Master’s Degree in Public Administration, Political Science and or a related field.
2. One year experience in full cycle election administration in addition to the above listed requirements.
3. Knowledge and hands on experience working with local, state and federal laws, policies and procedures.
4. Experience working in a progressive city with a population of 50,000 or greater is preferred.
5. Three years supervisor experience.
