Job description:
Under general supervision this position performs a variety of technical work involved in the installation, preventative maintenance, diagnostic evaluation, and repair of electronic systems, instrumentation, process controls, and associated systems in support of the water production and distribution for the City.

Instrumentation Tech I – This position exercises no supervision.

Instrumentation Tech II – This position may exercise technical and functional supervision over lower level staff.

Job Requirements


Education, training, experience:
Experience:

At least six months of experience in installation, maintenance, and repair of instrumentation, process controls, and electronic systems.

Education/Training:

A high school diploma or GED is required.

Instrumentation Technician II

Experience:

Three years of experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of instrumentation, process controls, and electronic systems associated with water and/or wastewater is required.

Education/Training:

A high school diploma or GED is required as well as technical education equivalent to the level of an associate’s degree.



License or Certificate:

A valid Texas Driver’s License is required.

The ability to obtain a minimum of a C Surface Water and C Wastewater Operator’s License issued by TCEQ within 36 months of hire date.


Special Requirements:

Ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, stoop, squat, twist, climb, and lift up to 50 pounds.

Exposure to cold, heat, outdoors, confining work space, chemicals, explosive materials, and electrical hazards.

Ability to travel to different sites.
