Job description:
Provides project management of construction projects with an emphasis on building construction to include: contract negotiations and administration, quality assurance, review of construction plans including constructability reviews, negotiation of change orders, preparation of and tracking of schedules, preparation of cost estimates, preparation and review of specifications, management of construction costs, review pay estimates and change order requests, and assembling contract documents. Observes construction activities in the field to ensure that work is performed in accordance with the contract’s technical plans, specifications, and City codes and ordinances.

Attendance is an essential function of this position. The City reserves the right to require an employee in this position to work more than 40 hours a week. This position provides services or performs duties for the benefit of the general public during emergency situations. These may include services or duties different from those performed in the usual course and scope of your job. In the event of an evacuation, the incumbent in this position may be required to remain to perform needed services.

Job Requirements


Education, training, experience:
REQUIRED:
1. Associate’s Degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, or related field from an accredited college or university, or combination of equivalent education, training, and experience.
2. Ten years experience in construction project inspection and management with an emphasis on building construction including three of those years working on projects using public (municipal) funds.
3. Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems.
4. Computer literate.
5. Valid State of Texas Driver’s License with acceptable driving record.
PREFERRED:
1. Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, or related field from an accredited college or university.
2. Municipal engineering experience.
3. CADD and GIS experience.
4. Experience in Microsoft Project and/or equivalent software programs.
