Job Description


Job description:
You will work an assigned shift at the City’s Communications Center. You must also have the ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment, handle emergency situations sensitively, and exercise judgment under pressure.

Job Duties

Participates in the processing of emergency and non-emergency calls for police, fire, and EMS.

Utilizes the Texas Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (TLETS); processes officer requests for information including drivers license, license plate, criminal history, and/or article inquiries; enters stolen items, missing persons, and protective orders into TLETS.

Operates, monitors, maintains, and troubleshoots various types of communications equipment including computers, radio consoles, recording equipment, and 911 work stations.

Receives and processes open records/recording requests; researches and locates reports and call recordings as requested by the public, law enforcement personnel, attorneys, and City administration.

Job Requirements


Education, training, experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent is required.

One year of public safety dispatch experience preferred. Commensurate private sector or military communications experience may be considered in lieu of public safety dispatch experience.

Basic Telecommunications, TDD/TTY, and TCIC/NCIC Full Access certifications are required to be obtained within twelve (12) months of employment.

Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.

Must complete a City of Friona application for employment.
