Job description:
Develops and implements numerous recreation, fitness and self-improvement classes, to include securing instructors and locations. Plans, coordinates, and implements various special events. Assists the Recreation Services Manager and the Assistant Director with special projects. Handles the rentals and reservations for the City’s many venues and maintains accurate records. Develops promotional materials for athletic leagues, aquatic and leisure programs, facility reservations and special events to include flyers, pamphlets, departmental activity brochures, and media releases / advertisements distributed throughout the community. Handles and maintains all program and event registrations for youth and adult participants, and generates rosters and reports. Works with the Building Maintenance Supervisor, Building Attendants, Sports and Civic Organizations, and the General Public on a daily basis. Handles the daily operation of the Parks and Recreation Office to include all facility reservations, program registrations, and assisting customers in person and on the phone. Evenings and weekends are required for annual special events.

Attendance is an essential function of this position. The City reserves the right to require an employee in this position to work overtime. This position provides services or performs duties for the benefit of the general public during emergency situations. These may include services or duties different from those performed in the usual course and scope of your job. In the event of an evacuation, the incumbent in this position may be required to remain to perform needed services.

Job Requirements


Education, training, experience:
REQUIRED:
1. Associates degree in Recreation, Sports Management, Public Administration or related field from an accredited college or university or combination of equivalent year’s education, training, and experience.
2. One-year experience in parks and recreation, facility rentals/reservations, special events, recreation programming, or related experience.
3. Experience with word processing, spreadsheets, and desktop publishing and proficiency in typing.
4. Good oral communication and organizational skills.
PREFERRED:
1. Bachelors degree in Recreation, Sports Management, Public Administration or related field from an accredited college or university.
2. Bilingual.
3. Experience with league and activity registration, and facility reservation software.
4. Two years experience in parks and recreation, facility rentals/reservations, special events, recreation programming, or related experience.
