Job Description

Job description:
Responsible for teaching swim lessons and water safety to the members and guests. Enforce aquatic facility rules and regulations. Provide members and guests with a safe and enjoyable aquatic experience.

Examples of Duties:
1. Provide safe and effective swim lessons to members and guests. Prevent accidents and minimize or eliminate hazardous situations.
2. Provide emergency care and treatment to participants as necessary until the arrival of emergency medical services. Apply first aid and perform water rescues as necessary.
3. Enforce all safety rules and regulations of the aquatic facilities to patrons.
4. Adhere to all written mandatory standards of operation, policies, procedures, manuals, memos and oral instructions.
5. Administer aquatic services as set forth by the facility, including scheduling and teaching swim lessons, supervising groups activities and helping with other aquatic program activities.
6. Prepares and submits reports to include rescues and assists, accidents, and first aid to supervisor.
7. Attend mandatory training and in-service meetings.
8. Informs supervisor of all work-related activities.
9. Adheres to the personnel, safety, and divisional policies and procedures of the Town.
10. Assists co-workers and other divisions as needed.
11. Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Education, training, experience:
High School Diploma or GED is preferred. CPR/First Aid and Water Safety Instructor Certifications are required. Must be at least 16 years of age. If you have a valid Texas driver's license, driving record must be in compliance with Town policy OR you must have reliable transportation.

Must have excellent leadership, organizational and communicative skills, both oral and written. To perform the essential functions of the job, must be able to perform strenuous physical activities to include running, kneeling, bending, twisting, dragging, pushing, pulling and lifting up to 50 lbs of various recreational and athletic equipment; to talk, see, hear, and read; to work in adverse environmental conditions; and to maintain an effective and pleasant working relationship with citizens, the general public, employees, and volunteers. Must be able to work various hours, including evenings and weekends as required.
