Job description:
This is an exciting and rewarding position with the City of Baytown, part of the dynamic Galveston/Houston/Baytown metropolis acknowledged as one of America’s top 5 regions for jobs. This position coordinates the department’s code enforcement efforts by assigning, tracking and maintaining case files for complaints, the substandard program, sign licensing, multi-family dwelling licensing, manufactured home and recreational vehicle park licensing, vacant building registration and zoning violations. This will include assisting the inspectors with preparing case file folders for court, updating spreadsheets for tracking, preparing letters to property owners, creating case files in the tracking system, scheduling inspections, communicating with property owners and tenants along with other duties as assigned. This position may also assist Community Development staff with neighborhood improvement demolition projects.

Job Requirements


Education, training, experience:
REQUIRED:
1. High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
2. Three years general office experience OR equivalent education and directly related experience.
3. Advanced computer skills with emphasis in Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel.
4. Valid Texas driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
5. International Property Maintenance Certification from ICC or ability to obtain in one (1) year.
6. State Code Enforcement Officer Registration or ability to obtain in two (2) years.

PREFERRED:
1. Bilingual/Spanish.
2. Experience in construction, code enforcement, or related field.
3. Three years of municipal experience.
