Job description:
The employee performs a variety of civil engineering duties in conjunction with the design, research and administration of Water Utilities’ projects. Designs and prepares plans and specifications for water distribution and wastewater collection systems; water and wastewater treatment plants; prepares regulatory correspondence and reports; prepares construction cost estimates for Water Utilities’ projects; administers project bids and construction inclusive of field inspections; and coordinates with public and private entities. Plans, assigns, monitors, directs and evaluates the work of employees; verifies accuracy of work of employees; including civil engineers, engineering technicians, engineering inspectors, surveyors, and administrative support staff. Reviews plans and specifications prepared by engineers for compliance with Water Utilities’ standards and policies. Hours: Mon-Fri, 8:00am-5:00pm.

Job Requirements


Education, training, experience:
Must have a minimum of B.S. degree in Civil, Environmental or related engineering field; or equivalent experience. Must have strong mathematic, scientific and computer skills applicable to design, computation and analysis of plans, specifications, surveying and environmental treatment practices. Training and experience in Computer Aided Design (AutoCAD) required and familiarity with Geographical Information Systems (ESRI) desirable. Must have working knowledge of general office practices; able to bend or stoop to retrieve files; lift books, files or other materials weighing 35 lbs; and able to sit for long periods doing typing, computer work, etc. A valid driver’s license with a good driving record required.
