Job description:
The City of Bryan is seeking a Web Communications Specialist. This position manages the City of Bryan and BTU websites and consults with other departments on website needs; coordinates and creates specialized web content and online publications; serves as the internal municipal web liaison and offers consultation and best practices on intranet needs and maintenance; and promotes the city's image through web and e-marketing strategies by seeking out opportunities to build the city’s presence online and integrate new technologies for the promotion and marketing of the city.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Manages City of Bryan and BTU websites, including designing, creating, organizing, editing, maintaining and posting content to site.

- Consults with other City of Bryan departments to determine best web strategies to promote and enhance their initiatives beyond the City of Bryan website

- Trains intranet content users in how to update and manage their own content in the CMS

- Evaluates and ensures that all City websites maintain a unified design and organization through branding and consistency

- Collaborates proactively with City departments to ensure all web content is relevant and updated.

- Seeks out, develops and recommends new ways that web projects and initiatives can promote the City both externally and internally.

- Integrates social media components into web projects and initiatives and stays abreast of new trends in social media, web marketing and web design

- Understands the importance of creating a web presence with user navigability in mind and considers all audiences when designing for the web

- Ensures that City of Bryan and BTU websites publically communicate the strategic goals of the organizations

- Develops and provides training related to Web duties as necessary.

- Assists in developing ways to effectively manage all archived print, web, and video content of the communications and marketing department.

- Performs related duties as required.

- Responds regularly and promptly to work.

Job Requirements

Education, training, experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Multimedia and Graphic Design, Communication, Computer Science or web design-related degree or similar field of study plus at least four (4) years experience in website design, implementation and maintenance, especially using a CMS.

Note: Equivalent combinations of educations and experience will be considered (For example: Associate's degree + 6 years related experience OR Master's degree + 2 years related experience, etc.).

- Must be skilled in the use of pertinent software applications (e.g. MS Office, CMS, HTML, CSS, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.)
