Job description:
Customer Service Clerk - will provide a wide variety of general customer services. Perform various general clerical functions, calculations and monetary transactions; maintains and updates complex filing systems; process forms and reports; prepare general correspondence; research files and records. Respond efficiently and timely to customer inquiries and complaints, resolves problems within area of assignment; explain applicable policies and procedures. Performs various customer service duties in support of water and wastewater billings and collections for the Utility Billing Department, collects fines and bond payments;assists with trials and court dockets, types and mail correspondence for the Municipal Court, process and issue permits, schedule appoints for the Building Official and performs all other job duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Education, training, experience:
Must be able to communicate effectively and courteously with customers and other City employees in person, on the phone and in writing.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Good organizational skills; ability to type 40wpm. Must be able to use 10-key calculator; experience working with personal computers and Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel. Ability ro speak Spanish preferred, but not required.

Minimum Education, Experience and Certification - High school diploma or equivalent is required. Two years general business and clerical experience involving public contact; at least one year of cashier or teller experience or any other position consistenly dealing with money.
